DAY 24 :: STROLL IN THE PARK FOR KIDS WHO BARK (in support of pet rescue)

A Happy Day!!!

Sunny skies at last

If we look hard enough, we can always find a reason to be happy. Just waking up is one! But today, at least 3 reasons presented themselves and will have me smiling all day long!

💗 Happy Sweet 16 Miss Joee 💗

The first one presented itself the instant I opened my eyes because there, sharing my pillow was our birthday girl, Miss Joee. You see, today is a pretty monumental day, as far as gotcha days go. Today, Miss Joee has lived a life filled with love, affection, and bacon as long as she lived a life as a backyard puppy mill inmate, cranking out litter after litter. Yes, Happy 8th Gotcha day today our sweet Joee, and Happy Sweet 16th Birthday!

Of course, once the sun came up, there was yet another reason to be happy. After the miserable couple of days we just went through, with devastating rains and flooding and destructive heavy winds, a beautiful calm, sunny SITPFKWB 2021 morning dawned. I headed out on the trail and logged a total of 9.5 kilometers.

Buddy - A Happy's Place Alum 💗

And third, hip-hip-hooray! I met a sweet little Happy's boy today! Buddy was rescued by Happy's Place Retirement Home for Dogs back in June and, since being adopted 5 weeks ago, is now living his BEST LIFE EVER with his new Mom and Dad. While his story is similar to our Joee's as the product and slave of a backyard breeder puppy mill, poor Buddy was booted around from being purchase on Kijiji as a "retired breeding stud" to being dumped in a shelter because of issues, many related to the fact that he was visually impaired. Thankfully, through a great network of rescuers out there, Buddy landed at Happy's Place and his happily-ever-after.

Your Support Matters

But the happily-ever-afters can't happen without us! Through the generosity of folks like you, supporters of SITPFKWB, fur-kids living in horrendous situations will find themselves landing softly among compassionate rescuers and eventually their very own forever family.

I will be personally donating .50 cents per kilometer for every kilometer I walk in the month of September (in support of pet rescue) and I invite you to show your support by sponsoring me either by cents/kilometer or in a lump sum. Even the smallest amount is still better than none. And, for added convenience in this global world, I have created a GoFundMe page but for my local supporters I am happy to accept cash, cheques, and e-transfers at (StrollingForFurKids@gmail.com).

With just 6 days to go, I have still one more reason to be thankful and that's YOU, my wonderful supporters!!! Many thanks, from the bottom of my heart 😊 to those of you who have already donated. Together, we're making a difference! And that's why I STROLL IN THE PARK FOR KIDS WHO BARK (in support of pet rescue)!!!
