Day 1 of no SITPFKWB...hmmm, am I bored? Well, kinda. But, I’m still a little tired too. Mostly though, I’m so extremely grateful and overwhelmed by all the support I received from so many of you during my month-long fundraising challenge, STROLL IN THE PARK FOR KIDS WHO BARK (in support of Animalert). I was blessed, as well, to meet so many new folks whose big hearts and generosity has boosted the totals far beyond my goal.

Over the past three Septembers, I have logged 746.25 kilometers in an effort to raise awareness to the vital and irreplaceable role that pet rescue plays in our society, to champion responsible pet guardianship, and to raise much-needed funds for an organization that does remarkable work, solely on a volunteer basis; an organization that saved our Joee!

So, even though SITPFKWB is done for another year, pledges and donations continue to roll in and I am grateful for every cent! Even the smallest donation will help make a difference to the fur-kids in the care of this great organization, Animalert. Animalert was founded in London, Ontario, Canada in 1977 by four animal lovers who wanted to ensure that pets were adopted by caring guardians. There are now about 35 active members, plus our large network of volunteers, which helps spread the word about their adoption program and raise funds to offset operating expenses. About 250 cats and dogs a year are adopted into responsible, loving homes.

As you know I had pledged to donate .50 cents for every kilometer I walked in the month of September and that amounts to $128.00. My wonderful friend and weekly walking buddy, Shari McNeill pledged to match my donation. Many others have also made extremely generous donations.

But, regardless how big or small, any donation can mean the difference of a life of misery or a playful, fun, and happy life or a foster home for many abused, abandoned, and homeless fur-kids! There is still time to get your donation to me. Contact me at StrollingForFurKids@gmail.com or message me on my facebook page and I can give you mailing details or make arrangements to pick it up. If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times this month – AND I REALLY DO MEAN IT – thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support during my STROLL IN THE PARK FOR KIDS WHO BARK!!!
