Yesterday saw the completion of Week Three of Stroll In The Park For Kids Who Bark. It was an extremely busy day for me and it was a trade off; spreading the word and gathering support vs. logging kilometers. I completed a total of only 56 kilometers last week but I am still on track to better my last year’s total.

In the morning, I was honoured and privileged to be guest speaker at the Ladies Coffee Hour at North Park Community Church. I was overwhelmed by the warm and welcoming reception I received and the support from so many in the group.

Then, home to prepare a little “spiel” and display table that I had been invited to share at an Animalert fundraising event, “A Paws-Itively Musical Evening”, which was held at the London Music Club. Elvis was in the building and many talented local performers, including Denise Pelley sang songs with dogs and cats as the theme.

During my month-long fundraising challenge, I will be personally donating .50 cents per kilometer for every kilometer I walk in the month of September and I invite folks to show their support by sponsoring me either by cents/kilometer or in a lump sum. For added convenience, I have created a GoFundMe account (for my American and International family and friends), but for my local supporters I am happy to accept cheques (made payable to Animalert), bank e-transfer, and cash.

Or, if you’re looking for a more active way of becoming involved, join me for Stroll-Along-Sunday, being held Sunday, September 27th from 1 – 3:00 p.m. at Picnic Area L, Springbank Park in London. Event details are available by logging on to my website, my facebook page, or by e-mailing me. A registration and pledge form is available. Those who Pre-register will receive a free gift and there will be a grand prize for the stroller who raises the most donations. Even just 5¢ per kilometer will add to a donation that will mean the difference of a life of misery or even euthanasia and helping to find a safe and happy home for abused, abandoned, and surrendered fur-kids! All in all it was a good week and a highly rewarding and monumental day in the history of my event and I look forward to continued expansion as I STROLL IN THE PARK FOR KIDS WHO BARK!!!
