Technology AAAARRRGGGHHH!!! Here’s the story. This steamy morning, I struck out for my usual walk albeit a shorter version. Since a) it was a holiday today, and b) I had a long to do list, I had planned to walk far enough to better my last year’s one-week record of 61 kilometers. I struck out, grabbed my Tim’s dark roast and made my way through some really wonderful wooded trails next to Pinafore Park.

Along the way I met some new fur-kid friends including Jax, a rescue from a reservation near Barrie, ON and then Rainny the Shepherd and Cash the Black Lab.

Then, much to my horror, when I arrived home I found that my tracking device had stopped and the trek I had just made had not been recorded! NOOOOO!!!

So, in order to make it “official”, I retraced my steps this evening to make sure I logged exactly what I had done this morning; a total of 6.18 kilometers. (So, technically I did walk over 12 kilometers today however only 6 of those actually count.) But, with those 6 kilometers I surpassed my one-week total of 61 to set a new record of 64.5 kilometers! That equals a whopping $32.25 donation after just one week into my month-long fundraising challenge Stroll In The Park For Kids Who Park (in support of Animalert).

On my second round I met the cutest pair of pugs, Stan Lee (front) and Jennie Lee, who had just been for a swim in Lake Margaret.

Most certainly these sweeties are not your average pugs!

In addition to personally donating .50 cents per kilometer for every kilometer I walk in the month of September, I invite folks to show their support by sponsoring me either by cents/kilometer or in a lump sum. Donations can be made by cheque (made payable to Animalert), bank e-transfer, and cash. E-mail me at StrollingForFurKids@gmail.com for more details.

Tomorrow begins Week 2 of my month-long charity fundraiser as I STROLL IN THE PARK FOR KIDS WHO BARK!!!
