Today was a day for friends; old and new! To start the day my good friend and walking pal Shari McNeill and I met up at Springbank Park for our regular Sunday morning outing but this time to Stroll In The Park For Kids Who Bark. We’ve been getting together now for nearly 5 years and as usual, we struck out on this fine summer morning with our usual Tim’s, our electronic logging devices, and more conversation that we can ever fit into one outing.

We encountered many of the folks I would see on a daily basis while walking through the park but today, a few different faces also came into view. An old school chum jogging with a group, a former colleague training for the Terry Fox Run were just a few.

We also met some new faces; complete with wet noses. Yes, we had the pleasure of chatting with Lola, a little dapple doxie and her Mom & Dad. We also stopped to admire a sweet little cock-a-poo Marley’s very cool hat! Then we encountered a pair of happy havanese Max and Kylie. [Thanks to their Mommy Joanne for the kind donation!!!] Along the way we couldn’t resist stopping to say hello to the pair of cuties Callie and Colby.
In total today we logged just over 11.5 kilometers this morning but more importantly, had the pleasure and wonderful opportunity to tell lots of folks about my month-long fundraising challenge Stroll In The Park For Kids Who Park (in support of Animalert).
In addition to personally donating .50 cents per kilometer for every kilometer I walk in the month of September, I invite folks to show their support by sponsoring me either by cents/kilometer or in a lump sum. For added convenience, I have created a GoFundMe ** account (for my American and International family and friends), but for my local supporters I am happy to accept cheques (made payable to Animalert), bank transfer via e-mail, and cash.
Tomorrow is the last day of Week 1 and I'm on track to beat my 1 week record of 61 kilometers as I STROLL IN THE PARK FOR KIDS WHO BARK!!!
**Please note that it is not possible to provide tax receipts for any donations made through the GFM website.
