Day 1 of no SITPFKWB...hmmm, am I bored? Well, kinda. But, I’m still a little tired too. Mostly though, I’m so extremely grateful and overwhelmed by all the support I received from so many of you during my month-long fundraising challenge, STROLL IN THE PARK FOR KIDS WHO BARK (in support of Animalert). I was blessed, as well, to meet so many new folks whose big hearts and generosity has boosted the totals far beyond my goal.

I was also lucky enough to meet a sweet natured little fur-kid named Gidget who had lived her first 5 years in sad circumstances and in constant pain due to severe hip dysplasia. Even though she was unable to walk on her right back leg at all, she never showed any signs of pain or discomfort.

But immediately after coming into the Animalert program, her condition was diagnosed and corrective surgery was performed. And, best news of all, Gidget is recovering well and starting to use her leg. She will still need another surgery to repair the other hip, most likely in a couple of months from now, but with her playful and enthusiastic personality, I imagine that she’ll be running to fetch balls with a new, forever family in the not too distant future. (If you’re interested in adopting Gidget, you can contact Animalert through their website, www.Animalert.ca)

Even though SITPFKWB is done for another year, pledges and donations continue to roll in and I am grateful for every cent! Even the smallest donation will help make a difference to the fur-kids in the care of this great organization, Animalert.

Animalert was founded in London, Ontario, Canada in 1977 by four animal lovers who wanted to ensure that pets were adopted by caring guardians. There are now about 35 active members, plus our large network of volunteers, which helps spread the word about their adoption program and raise funds to offset operating expenses. About 250 cats and dogs a year are adopted into responsible, loving homes.

As you know I had pledged to donate .50 cents for every kilometer I walked in the month of September and that amounts to $125.00. My wonderful friend and weekly walking buddy, Shari McNeill pledged to match my donation.

Many others have made extremely generous donations.

But, regardless how big or small, any donation can mean the difference of a life of agony or a playful, fun, and happy life for Gidget or a foster home for a puppy-mill slave!

There is still time to get your donation to me. Contact me at StrollingForFurKids@gmail.com or message me on my facebook page, www.Facebook.com/sitpfkwb and I can give you mailing details or make arrangements to pick it up.

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times this month – AND I REALLY DO MEAN IT – thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support during my STROLL IN THE PARK FOR KIDS WHO BARK!!!
