SUMMARY WEEK 3 :: STROLL IN THE PARK FOR KIDS WHO BARK (in support of Animalert)
It was truly a fantastic SITPFKWB week! I set a new weekly record of 69 kilometers, smashing my old one of 61. With just 9 days of “strolling” left to do, I still have my work cut out for me if I want to beat my last year’s total (241 km)! Fingers crossed that the weather co-operates!
On a happy note, Gidget (smiling as she recovers at her foster home) has been progressing well in her post-surgery recovery. She was able to put weight on her right hind leg for -really- the first time ever. Her spirits are good, but she truly is a happy little girl! She’s under the care of a loving foster who’s seeing to her every need. She has a long road ahead of her since she’s likely to undergo a second surgery on her other hip, but there’s little doubt that one day, in the not too distant future, Gidget will lead the happy, carefree fur-kid's life in a loving family.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the many folks who have already made donations to this month-long fundraising challenge. This past week has seen some amazing donations made by Karen Atkinson, Kathy Mosley, Karen Moore, and the wonderful team at Lewkowitz Financial; just some of the people who have sponsored me on my endeavour. A good friend, John Peacock has sponsored me for .20 cents per kilometer and my Sunday walking buddy, Shari McNeill has offered to match my contribution by pledging .50 cents per kilometer. With 9 days left, I am confident that I can beat last year’s total funds raised as well.
And last, but certainly not least ... This coming Sunday is the date for the first ever, Stroll-Along-Sunday, taking place from 2 – 4:00 p.m. in Springbank Park, Picnic Area L. Folks who have pre-registered and bring with them a minimum of $25.00 in donations will receive a free SITPFKWB tee-shirt. An e-mail confirmation will go out shortly to all who have pre-registered. But, if you haven't already, you can find all the details on my website www.norfolknibbles.wix.com/strollinthepark, my facebook page www.facebook.com/sitpfkwb, by e-mailing me at StrollingForFurKids@gmail.com or by calling or texting me at 519-694-3420. Even if you’re unable to raise donations, you’re most certainly welcome to come out with your fur-kids and join me while I STROLL IN THE PARK FOR KIDS WHO BARK!!!
