SUMMARY WEEK 2 :: STROLL IN THE PARK FOR KIDS WHO BARK (in support of Animalert)

So, Week 2 proved to be a battle; mentally, physically, and meteorologically! As I’m sure you read repeatedly, I was plagued by a migraine for much of the week and the heavy rain wreaked havoc on my walking plans.

But, despite all the barriers, I’m proud to report that I did end up logging 50 kilometers! Yes, I myself was shocked when I tallied up my numbers. I’ve now challenged myself to try to beat my all-time weekly record of 61 kilometers, which I did last September, this week. Fingers crossed!

Some more exciting news is here too! Miss Gidget has now come through her first surgery with flying colours and has actually put weight on her leg! I’m so excited to hear this and know that there is hope for a full recovery and that we will be helping to make this happen! While she still has a long road ahead, this positive news is encouraging.

I have received several registrations for the Stroll-Along Sunday, scheduled to take place from 2 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 28th at Picnic Area L in Springbank Park. Those registering in advance, collecting a minimum of $25.00 in pledges, and coming out to participate, will receive a free SITPFKWB tee-shirt. The registration deadline was yesterday, but if you're still interested, don't hesitate to contact me by any of the contact info noted below.

Pledges and donations continue to roll in and I am grateful for every cent! Even the smallest donation will help us make a difference to Gidget and hopefully other fur-kids in the care of this great organization.

Animalert was founded in London, Ontario, Canada in 1977 by four animal lovers who wanted to ensure that pets were adopted by caring guardians. There are now about 35 active members, plus our large network of volunteers, which helps spread the word about their adoption program and raise funds to offset operating expenses. About 250 dogs and cats a year are adopted into responsible, loving homes.

As you know, I have pledged to donate .50 cents for every kilometer I walk in the month of September and invite you to sponsor me either by pledging cents per/kilometer or in a lump sum. Or, if you’re looking for a more active way of becoming involved, join me for Stroll-Along-Sunday, being held Sunday, September 28th from 2 – 4:00 p.m. at Picnic Area L, Springbank Park in London. All of the event details are available by logging on to my website www.norfolknibbles.wix.com/strollinthepark , my facebook page www.facebook.com/sitpfkwb, or by e-mailing me at StrollingForFurKids@gmail.com. A registration and pledge form is available and with your registration in advance, participation on the 28th, and a minimum of $25.00 in donations, you’ll receive a free SITPFKWB tee-shirt.

Even just 5¢ per kilometer will add to a donation that will mean the difference of a life of agony or a playful, fun, and happy life for Gidget or a foster home for a puppy-mill slave!

I hope you'll join with me and STROLL IN THE PARK FOR KIDS WHO BARK!!!
