SUMMARY WEEK 1 :: STROLL IN THE PARK FOR KIDS WHO BARK

2014-09-07_17-31-53_171.jpg

Well, I admit I’m a little late in getting post this out; how I would love about 6 more hours in each day! Despite a number of little setbacks last week including a migraine, a minor basement flood, the weather, and oh ya – work, I completed a fairly successful week by logging 60 kilometers. Just short of my all-time record of 61! Setting a pace like that has given me inspiration to do even better!

But even greater inspiration is little Miss Gidget! This sweet and placid little American Eskimo mix, recently surrendered to Animalert, has been suffering all of her 5 years of life in pain due to severe hip dysplasia. She has been unable to walk at all on her back right leg and keeps it tucked snugly under herself.

However, with the help of the generous donations pouring in, Gidget will receive the necessary surgeries and medications she needs to free her life of pain and restore her ability to walk, run, and play like any normal little fur-kid! And, the hope that eventually this mild-mannered little girl will find her forever family through the compassionate and caring folks of the Animalert program.

At a time where so many charities are reaching out to ask for assistance, it’s hard to ask for more. But, knowing that without the assistance of so many people, programs such as Animalert wouldn’t be able to continue to save and care for and rehome the dozens of abandoned, abused, and simply discarded fur-kids they help every year. (I know first-hand though our Animalert adoption of our own precious girl, Joee, a puppy-mill mama who was saved from her life-long enslavement of having litter after litter of babies.)

I have pledged to donate .50 cents for every kilometer I walk in the month of September and invite you to sponsor me either by pledging cents per/kilometer or in a lump sum. Or, if you’re looking for a more active way of becoming involved, join me for Stroll-Along-Sunday, being held Sunday, September 28th from 2 – 4:00 p.m. at Picnic Area L, Springbank Park in London. All of the event details are available by logging on to my website www.norfolknibbles.wix.com/strollinthepark , my facebook page www.facebook.com/sitpfkwb, or by e-mailing me at StrollingForFurKids@gmail.com. A registration and pledge form is available and with your participation on the 28th and a minimum of $25.00 in donations, you’ll receive a free SITPFKWB tee-shirt.

Even just 5¢ per kilometer will add to a donation that will mean the difference of a life of agony or a playful, fun, and happy life for Gidget or a foster home for a puppy-mill slave!

So, I hope you'll join with me to STROLL IN THE PARK FOR KIDS WHO BARK!!!
